Setting Your Defaults

A link is provided from the main data entry and viewing page to a page which allows you to set default values which will appear on your data form when you first display it. This will save the work of typing in values or selecting values for those fields each time you enter data. The fields which can have default values are the site name, monitor name, note taker, transects, and a list of species names that you commonly find on your site.

1. Open the link to the page for setting default values for your monitoring site.
2. The first page you will see is a page to select your monitoring site. If you have entered a set of default values for the data entry form for your site, select your site and click on "Display form" to retrieve a defaults form containing those values. If you want a blank form, click on "Display form" with no site selected. If you select your site but have not entered default values, you will also open a blank defaults entry form.
3. Fill in the form just as you would for entering data. It is a similar but smaller form. You can set default values for the site name, monitor, note taker, transects, and species names you want to appear in the data entry form when it is first brought up.
4. When you are done, click on "Set defaults".
5. Now when you select the data entry form for your site, the defaults you have set will appear in the form.
