Tom Poklen has been a monitor at Songbird Slough since 2005. He consistently performs above and beyond the call, making greater than the minimum number of visits per year, and submitting a high-quality data reports in a timely manner. Tom is monitoring a nice array of wetland and upland species of butterflies on an interesting site.
Mike Ander monitors on the challenging site of Freeman Kame. Mike’s site includes various wetland and woodland communities. He has been keeping tabs since 2003 on some important wetland species like the eyed brown and dion skipper.
Bill Plankis has monitored the very rich site at Camp Sagawau since 2001. His work carries forward extensive monitoring that now extends back for over a decade. Long-term data sets from important sites like this will contribute significantly to our understanding of the ecology of the region’s butterflies.
Sue Page has been monitoring West DuPage woods since 2001. She’s really done a fine job on this site. Her data includes numerous skipper species. Her reports are always complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely fashion. West DuPage turns out to be a surprisingly species-rich site. Nobody would have been aware of this without Sue’s diligent work.
